Our story

At Onomo we dance to the heartbeat of Africa. Anchored in a rapidly developing Africa, our hotels are a reflection of this spirit, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Africa and showcasing its vibrant art and design in all its glory. With a lifestyle-centric approach, we create unique and inspiring spaces that are as diverse and eclectic as the continent itself.

From then to now

Our journey began in 2009, since then, we have grown to become the largest pan-African hotel group in the lifestyle segment, with 23 hotels in 13 countries

2009
Established in 2009, Onomo Hotels is born.
2010
Our first Onomo Hotel, located in Dakar, where we embraced and celebrated the local culture, while offering contemporary design, comfort, and authentic experiences to travellers.
2011
Onomo Hotels opens its second hotel in Abidjan in 2011.
2012
Our third hotel opens in Libreville in 2012.
2015
Bomako and Lomé opens its doors. Head office relocates to Casablanca.
2017
South Africa welcomes Onomo Hotels in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Onomo Conakry opens.
2018
Onomo Hotels expands to open more hotels in Morocco, South Africa and Rwanda.
2024
Onomo Hotels introduces Onomo Allure, our premium lifestyle brand.
2021
Onomo Kampala was also awarded an EDGE certification in 2021.
2020
Winner of Best real estate project in Africa. Onomo Douala – the first hotel in Africa to be EDGE-certified, recognizing the efforts of this hotel to reduce its ecological footprint (energy and water consumptions)
2019
Onomo Hotels celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019, with properties now in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Mali, Togo, South Africa, Guinea, Rwanda, Morocco and Cameroon, with Tanzania to follow soon.
